Our Philosophy

At Milton Ulladulla Preschool, our highly qualified and experienced team of educators engage with our families to enrich the lives and identities of the children. We are dedicated to providing a child safe environment that is a supportive and welcoming learning environment where equity, inclusion and diversity are embedded into our daily program and practice. We are a well-established community-based Preschool with a focus on respectful and supportive collaborative partnerships with our families as we strive to create positive connections, meaningful relationships and a strong sense of belonging for all.

Our learning environments respectfully consider different cultures with a particular emphasis on local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander language and perspectives. From the mountains to the sea, as we play and learn, we extend our recognition and respect to the people of the Dhurga language group, the traditional custodians of this land.

The Early Years Learning Framework guides the development and implementation of our program and practice. We are directly influenced by the National Quality Standards, Early Childhood Australia Code of Ethics, and the UN Convention Rights of the Child.

Trusting, caring and respectful relationships and the nurturing of strong connections are seen as the foundation of children’s wellbeing, belonging and learning. We support children’s rights by providing opportunities for agency, autonomy and ownership of their learning environments. Active participation encourages children to contribute to the daily program and routines through decision making and collaborative learning with educators. We recognise that children learn best through play. Children are viewed as successful, competent and capable learners, and child-led interests are extended through spontaneous and planned teachable moments. Educators observe, plan, implement and engage in reflection as they implement a developmental program for each child.

We promote positive attitudes towards the environment and provide opportunities to discover, engage in risky play and experience wonder in the natural world, embracing our Preschool’s amazing bush setting. We encourage the respectful use of natural resources and believe that children gain awareness of their environment through investigation, play and flexible routines. We embed sustainable practices at Preschool and support the children’s developing understanding of social responsibility and environmental awareness. We firmly believe that our children deserve a world where sustainable practices are integrated into daily life. Our educators, children and families are encouraged to act on practices that reduce our carbon footprint.

We strive to establish meaningful connections with the wider community, working together to empower our children to become confident, socially engaged learners and participants in our local and global society.
